Yes, you’re on the right web page, if you’re looking for Sindelar Solar. “Taking a Tiny House Off Grid” is just coming out in Home Power, more or less today. For now, everything on this site following this blog post is the story of a long bicycle tour I took last summer and fall. I traveled for several months to celebrate three of my life’s milestones:  my retirement (as the founder) from Positive Energy Solar of Santa Fe, Albuquerque and Las Cruces, New Mexico; my recovery from base-of-tongue cancer in 2012; and simply being alive and healthy enough in my sixties to ride a loaded bicycle several thousand miles.

This web site will soon become a real Sindelar Solar website; the process has begun in earnest, motivated to urgency, of course, by the Tiny House article. Check back in one to two weeks, and it should look quite a bit more professional and educational – I have plenty of material to share here.

In the meantime, a simple introduction must suffice: I have been working in the PV field for just over 25 years, long before the PV industry became the modern industry behemoth it is today. When I started Positive Energy in 1997, PV meant off grid. As the company grew over the years (Positive Energy is currently the largest locally-owned solar installation company in New Mexico), I stayed with my passion for designing and installing PV systems for residential off grid and water pumping applications.

I retired from the company just over a year ago. Since completing my celebratory “gratitude tour” chronicled in these pages, I have established Sindelar Solar as my one-person (with skilled help when needed), licensed, bonded and insured, dual-NABCEP-Certified solar contracting firm. Sindelar Solar provides consultation, design, sales, and installation, upgrade and repair services for residential and commercial solar photovoltaic systems. Services are limited to off grid and water pumping applications.

For now, I hope that you enjoyed and learned from the Home Power feature article, and perhaps from the “Ask the Experts” column also in the current issue. You are welcome to contact me directly, either by email at allan@sindelarsolar.com or by telephone/voicemail at 505 780-2738.

Enjoy the Sun!
